Meet Amanda Colon,

Sutton School, School to Home Coordinator

Amanda Colon, also known as Ms. Amanda to her Kindergarten-8th grade students, has worked with Sutton School and ¾«¶«´«Ã½ East School District for 6 months. Prior to coming to work at Sutton School, Amanda spent over 40 years working in the Youth Services field. With over 40 years of experience in youth services, Amanda has developed an unparalleled wealth of knowledge and expertise in advocating for young people.


Throughout her decades-long career working with youth, she has trained in youth work by Girls Inc, Anti-defamation League, Wise Guys, Tough Guise, and Coaching Boys to Men, Alternatives to Violence-Futures without violence, as well as WRAP: Wellness Recovery Action Planning.

Ms. Amanda was asked a series of questions regarding his time at Sutton School and with ¾«¶«´«Ã½ East School District. Below are some of the questions that were asked, followed by her answers.

Q: What is your favorite thing about working in a school?

Answer: "Offering programs that allow students to have a voice and express their personal ideas, feelings, and lifestyle choices".

Q: What have been some of your favorite moments as an educator?

Answer: "Having students self refer to the programs I offer and having students seek me out to hear their concerns, supporting them in a project ideas, or just wanting to hang out in my office and chat".

Q: What are you looking forward to about this school year?

Answer: "The group work with the students: Young Men and Young women's groups".

Ms. Amanda, you are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to children and young adults. Thank you so much for everything you have done for the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ East School District, Sutton School, and your students in just the short 6 months that you have been working with us! Your hard work, commitment, and dedication are truly appreciated!
