The campus needs to be updated for 20th century learning to build upon the ideals of the school.

This building previously served as a temporary classroom space for Miller’s Run. Prior to its relocation to Burke, it had already exceeded its expected usefulness. For health and safety reasons, this building should be demolished. Of

concern is the air quality, mold, deterioration and rot. Temperature in the space is difficult to regulate. The facilities team continues to monitor and maintain the building until it can be replaced.

A new dedicated Multipurpose space is necessary. The existing “gym” is inadequate and is not designed for this purpose. Thus, it does not work well as a gym nor as a performance space. The space is too small for many activities, and is not acoustically separated from the cafeteria below and causes many distractions.

There is only one staff bathroom for the entire school and it is not ADA compliant.

The nurse’s room needs a shower to properly function for sick students.

There is no conference room or place for teachers and staff to meet.

There is no staff room and no designated collaboration space for teachers.

Second grade shares a restroom with Pre-K. Each younger class should have their own restroom.

The main entry is not directly visible from the main office except through the use of cameras.

Finishes in the building need to be updated. Acoustics should be considered.

A designated Makerspace area would be great for STEM opportunities. There is a lot of interest in a Bakerspace, but they have no room for this now.

A classroom for Life Skills would be beneficial.

The Art room is small because shelving occupies much of the space. Dedicated storage may alleviate this issue.

An outdoor, covered classroom space would be a wonderful addition to the school.

Access to potable water is a concern in several of the buildings.
